How to make the perfect hot hair oil to warm you up and grow your hair this winter

Not all oils behave the same in cold weather. The best winter oils are heavy, nutrient-dense, and able to lock in moisture. Here’s how to choose the perfect base and boosters for your personalised winter blend.

1. Coconut oil

A classic that works wonderfully in winter when warmed. It penetrates the hair shaft and reduces protein loss, keeping strands strong and shiny.

2. Castor oil

Thick, sticky, and extremely potent. Rich in ricinoleic acid, it boosts blood circulation and has been linked to improved hair density when used consistently.

3. Olive oil

Deeply moisturising, olive oil is great for dry, coarse or frizzy winter hair. It smooths the cuticle and adds softness.

4. Almond oil

Light but powerful, almond oil replenishes essential fatty acids and hydrates the scalp without feeling too heavy.

5. Sesame oil

A winter favourite in Ayurveda. Sesame oil naturally warms the body, supports scalp health, and helps with flakiness.

6. Essential oils

A few drops of essential oils can transform your blend:

Rosemary for growth

Peppermint for circulation

Tea tree for dandruff

Lavender for relaxation

Use essential oils sparingly – 8–10 drops per 100 ml of carrier oil.
